In our horse and riding programs our instructors collaborate with other professionals such as: Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Early Childhood Educators, Social Workers, Teachers, Mental Health Clinicians, Speech Pathologists and Parents in order to create an individualized program with client specific goals.

CHAAPS offers:

MISTY Program

Misty was the first horse used in our program and one of the reasons we started CHAAPS! This program offers the therapeutic and recreational aspects of riding on a basic level in a safe and welcoming environment. Strong support is provided to the clients to help them achieve their goals.

KOOTNAI Program

Kootnai was the second horse in our program, she was considered our ‘gentle giant’ and assisted our clients in reaching new skills and levels in their riding.

This program also offers therapeutic benefits and recreational riding but focuses on goal-oriented games, promoting gross/fine motor skills and social skills. Cognitive skills associated with Horse Care are also introduced.

SECRETARIAT SPORT Program

Named after the great horse!

This is an introduction to the equestrian sport. This is offered to youth and adults with more refined riding skills and level of instruction to equal their increasing confidence, competence and possible competition. Riders will also become more knowledgeable in equine care and function independently.

This program is sponsored by the Quesnel Community Foundation.
